PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale (formerly Title Fight) is officially confirmed on Paul Gale Network! Video Footage, Screenshots, Logo, and 3rd party character info within!

April 27, 2012

On April 2nd, Paul Gale Network hinted at Title Fight’s new name possibly being PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale and I can now confirm to you that the latter is indeed Sony and SuperBot Entertainment’s big new PlayStation 3 brawler.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale formerly Title Fight on Paul Gale Network
Tadaaaa…PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

Throughout it’s different names, potential characters, stages, and so on…it’s been an honor knowing about PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale for as long as I have. When I first revealed it to you all in October, 2011, I was sitting on the news for close to a year, and not being able to reveal what I knew was something I just had to do. That being said, for the last 6 months, it’s been great finally being able to communicate with all of you and have so much feedback on what was then called “Title Fight”.

Nice video footage, don’t ya think?

Equally as satisfying as seeing all of your excitement build up for the game, was getting to share the information you provided with SuperBot Entertainment and Sony. As you saw in the video above provided by PlayStation.blog, the game’s director, Mr. Omar Kendall even said that he’s enjoyed reading fans’ ideas. I think you should all give yourselves a nice pat on the back for contributing!

I hope you liked the video and screenshots and are looking forward to E3 2012, for in a mere 39 days…if you’re attending, you’ll be able to play this baby. Don’t feel bad if you’re not going to E3 though, because there’ll still be plenty of footage and pictures for you to enjoy online.

Last but not least, a small extra bit of confirmation for you (and another Paul Gale Network first): I can 100% confirm that this game will see 3rd party characters! Here’s to PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale!

Press release:

Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) today announced the release of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, available for PlayStation 3 (PS3). Developed by SuperBot Entertainment, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is the ultimate four-player brawler, influenced by some of the greatest PlayStation themes and characters of all time. Spanning the entire PlayStation universe, players will select and control the likes of iconic characters such as Kratos, Sweet Tooth, Parappa, Fat Princess, Colonel Radec, and Sly Cooper among others. Additionally, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will include a line-up of special characters from some of the game industry’s top third party developers and publishers. With a host of playable characters, special attacks, themed stages, and mash up music, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale pits players in a deep fighting game that draws inspiration throughout the colorful PlayStation universe.

“PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale delivers a veritable encyclopedia of PlayStation’s rich gaming history,” said Guy Longworth, Senior Vice President of Marketing, SCEA. “This game is a celebration for fans of PlayStation and we are excited to deliver the most comprehensive brawler available.”

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale gives players access to a wide variety of PlayStation characters and ties in the excitement of a four player, full screen brawler. Players can fight in a variety of configurations, including versus matches for four, team battles, special practice modes, and team up with friends to take on players online. Online battles will deliver a new set of challenges, including Tournament mode, Special Event Battle, and Custom Matches. In Tournament, players are matched online to gain experience and special awards. Special Event Battles allow SuperBot to set match parameters daily, and players earn experience points towards an overall leaderboard based on performance. Players can also arrange customized matches with their own rules.

Environments and music are drawn from the rich and varied history of PlayStation titles, then thrown together in unique mash ups that showcase each property in a new setting. The mash up elements will introduce a secondary IP to an existing theme, allowing situations where characters and environments from completely different PlayStation IP can interact during a match. The in-game music, composed by John King of the Dust Brothers, will also stay true to the mash up theme by incorporating a mix of various IP soundtracks throughout.

In addition to a rich and deep online multiplayer experience, players can engage in several single player modes including Combat Trials and Arcade mode. In Combat Trials, players not only learn the basics of the game but perfect their skills through hundreds of unique challenges. Additionally players can play through a fixed level progression with prizes in Arcade mode.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has not yet been rated. For more information about the title, please visit www.PlayStationAllStarsBattleRoyale.com.

GlaciusTS April 27, 2012 at 10:08 pm

Glad to finally see some concrete evidence of this game. I sure hope Superbot concidered the characters I mentioned way back. If they could put in Scorpion and Ryu… it’d be pretty insane.

As for the title… I think I’m just gonna call it “Playstation All Stars”. Either way, I’m gonna miss the “Title Fight: name. It was so… lean and epic.

jdude1996a April 28, 2012 at 8:42 am

just call it All Stars Battle Royale or ASBR, no need to add the Playstation part in it.

jdude1996a April 28, 2012 at 8:43 am

I for 1 find the title Way better than Title Fight since you wouldn’t really be able to figure out its a crossover fighter with the name title fight.

Omega Rez April 28, 2012 at 3:35 am

i think it would be awesome to add silent hill in there, im thinking it would be cool to be fighting in a Parasite Eve/Silent Hill level

as for some characters you could use
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider Series)
Sir Daniel Fortesque (MediEvil series)
Abe (Oddworld series)
Eve (Parasite Eve series)
Jersey devil (Jersey Devil)
Raziel (Legacy of Kain series)
Blasto (blasto)
Musashi (Brave Fencer, Musashi)
Hana (Fear Effect series)
Gex the gecko (Gex series)
T’ai Fu (T’ai Fu: Wrath of the Tiger)

assist characters (from an item, could look like a orb with the square, X, O and triangle buttons floating around it)
Lemmings (Lemmings series)
Gabriel Logan (syphon Filter series)
Tomba (Tomba!)
Tetris Plus Professor and Tetris blocks (Tetris plus)
Tiny Tank (Tiny Tank)

Worms (Worms series

sonyfan April 28, 2012 at 5:30 am

pls paul tell Omar that they need to include ring outs
and some sort of health system for the final version
like life stocks or something
They should make different game modes on how to
defeat the enemies
and yes pls tell them to include
characters like wander from sotc
spike from ape escape
kat from gravity rush
Alundra from alundra
he needs to make his comeback

TahoeMario April 28, 2012 at 10:17 am

I have nothing against IGN but I was kinda disappointed to see that they sort of had the first “official” news of Title Fight.

But i hope that this game isn’t just four characters at a time, I pray that there can be one-on-one battles and maybe two-on-two/teams or something as well. Other than that, I trust SuperBot to know the appropriate characters for this roster so I ain’t even going to try to request something ridiculous.

Harky April 28, 2012 at 2:20 pm

Gametrailers.com had the first news, and its confirmed you can do everything you just said, teams/ 1v1 ect

TahoeMario April 29, 2012 at 8:53 pm

Yeah, I didn’t see the GTTV about it until earlier this morning. But they didn’t actually say that One vs One was possible. Just “One vs Three, Two on Two and Free-for-All/all four players”; making it seem that it does have to be four characters per match.

Plus all the videos and screenshots so far have all shown four at a time. But I don’t know, we’ll see at E3 or if Paul gets any more news by then.

Harky April 28, 2012 at 2:21 pm

Please add a smash bros style ring out mode with percentages and ledge grabs

cyborghero April 28, 2012 at 6:11 pm

I’ve been thinking: the title is backwards. It should be Battle Royale: Playstation All-Stars. Battle Royale for short. Then it could be followed by Battle Royale 2, 3, etc. Playstation All-Stars should be the subtitle, explaining what the game is all about before it establishes a name for itself and can stand on its own as just the “Battle Royale series.”

Paul Gale April 29, 2012 at 11:03 pm

That’s not a bad approach to it either.

noah April 29, 2012 at 7:38 am

Here are some characters I would LOVE to see
Jaden normand (heavy rain)
Pyramid head (silent hill 2)
New Dante (DMC)
Sackboy (LBP)
Scorpion (mortal kombat)
Castle crasher knight (castle crashers)
And finally Zeke (infamous)
Could u pass this onto super bot 4 me

HyperComboKO April 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm

I think if they plan on going full on with this system where only supers kill you must make ring outs and stage hazards more powerful..If you get ringed out or hit by a stage hazard (i.e. Hades) then you should lose all your AP and be stunned since the game is more about building meter and such that seems like the best way to go

jdude1996a April 30, 2012 at 4:32 pm

I LOVE this idea!

slash127 April 30, 2012 at 12:23 pm

Ratchet man, confirm RATCHET PLEASE!
seriously fat princess can make the cut and ratchet is still up for speculation ratchet has 8 games that have gotten 8.6 to 9.6 ratings on gamer sites.

slash127 April 30, 2012 at 12:25 pm

mostly 9’s

RazgrizInferno May 11, 2012 at 6:46 am

That stage with the hydra is from Ratchet and Clank, and according to IMDb, voice actors for Ratchet, Clank, Nefarious, and Quark have worked on this game.

Ratchet is almost guaranteed.

schobeleth April 30, 2012 at 1:02 pm

Hey Paul, I’ve been following your posts since your exclusive unveiling months ago. I had one nagging concern though – every other news outlet is saying you can only KO through supers. Is this the truth? I really hope this isn’t the case because I can’t see how they can balance it. If this isn’t true I’ll be completely on board, it’s my only worry with the game.

jdude1996a May 1, 2012 at 1:06 pm

I too was at first unsure of the “only supers KO” idea because i couldn’t see how it wud work and also because it was the ONLY way to kill someone, but then I realised that SSBB ONLY has 1 way to KO someone too, by knocking them off the edge, and also that in this game, there are so many possible situations that can pop up in-game such as one guy using his level 2 super to demolish a person that is using a level 1 super, or dodging all the attempts of a person using his level 3 super only to counter attack with ur level 3 super on them. I asked one of the designers if he can hsve the “only supers KO” idea as a mode and have combat mainly centered around knocking them off the edge, but he said it wud be tough since it was the already built in the levels and characters 4 only supers 2 KO, so im gonna ask him if he can keep the “only supers KO” idea as the main thing combat is centered around and have the “knocking them off the edge” idea as just 1 mode. His twitter is @LeifJohansen.

Stefan Johnson April 30, 2012 at 2:29 pm

Hey Paul I have 2 questions

Will there be an option to turn off items?

Will there be other options besides defeating other people just by using Supers??? Lke a Life Bar or like lives/Stocks in Smash Bros??

jdude1996a May 1, 2012 at 12:50 pm

There is stock matches in this game

HyperComboKO May 1, 2012 at 5:37 pm

they confirmed stock

Chaos-PSD April 30, 2012 at 10:55 pm

I hope this game’s got a good story mode, it can help explain why the stages have been fused together, they can make Polygon Man be the main villain.

Also, here are some more roster ideas, mainly secondary characters from my other post:

Carmelita Fox (Sly Cooper)
Dr. Nefarious (Ratchet & Clank)
Ashelin (Jak and Daxter)
Nina Cortex (Crash Bandicoot)
Lucy Kuo (inFamous)
Nix (inFamous)
Captain Quark (Ratchet & Clank)
Neyla (Sly Cooper)
Baron Praxis (Jak & Daxter)
N. Tropy (Crash Bandicoot)
Amanda Evert (Tomb Raider)
Jacqueline Natla (Tomb Raider)

don44 May 1, 2012 at 4:23 am

Hey paul if you are still sending ideas to superbot or sony, tell them to include nathan drake, emmett graves and jak and daxter from jak II Thanx!

jdude1996a May 1, 2012 at 1:08 pm

Jak and Daxter were confirmed by paul already, same with Nathan Drake.

Sora.kun May 1, 2012 at 2:37 pm

Oh my god, I proposed several months ago to put a Fever gauge of Patapon and they listened to me ^^
Thanks !!!

HyperComboKO May 1, 2012 at 6:19 pm

Also since i dont really like the white outline why not make the character glow for a few seconds when you get a meter and glow brighter or a different shade for different levels

Chaos-PSD May 1, 2012 at 10:00 pm

Here’s more roster ideas, yeah this is probably getting repetitive, but it’s just my thing:

Dr. Neo Cortex (Crash Bandicoot)
Dingodile (Crash Bandicoot)
Coco Bandicoot (Crash Bandicoot)
Crunch Bandicoot (Crash Bandicoot)
Talwyn Apogee (Ratchet & Clank)
Alister Azimuth (Ratchet & Clank)
Panda King (Sly Cooper)
Jean Bison (Sly Cooper)
Dr. M (Sly Cooper)
Mr. Grimm (Twisted Metal)
Dollface (Twisted Metal)
Sasha (inFamous)
Kai (Heavenly Sword)
Whiptail (Heavenly Sword)
Deimos (God of War)

FantasyBro May 2, 2012 at 12:48 pm

I’d REALLY like to see these IPs at least referenced:
LSD Dream Emulator
Jersey Devil
Zone of the Enders
GTA (preferably III, Sony owes it to Rockstar imo)
Brave Fencer Musashi
Bushido Blade
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater
State of Emergency
GITAROO MAN (I will buy 10 copies of this game if you put Gitaroo Man in the game. Not even kidding.)
Dynasty Warriors
Toro (It’s what a Japanese dev would do.)
Segata Sanshiro (To pour one out for the Dreamcast)
Sony Walkman
Vib Ribbon
Um Lammer Jammy

jdude1996a May 2, 2012 at 5:18 pm

PSX era: Prana Devil
PS2 era: Scaler (3rd Party)
PS3 era: Sackboy

Chaos-PSD May 2, 2012 at 8:01 pm

Just to be clear, the designs for the Crash Bandicoot characters I mentioned before should be like they were from the first Crash Bandicoot upto and including Crash Twinsanity

Boltsack May 2, 2012 at 9:53 pm

Hey Paul

I was wondering if your website is a good connection for the PABR developers to look into the fan base

Paul Gale May 3, 2012 at 2:42 am

That’s the spot where people have been leaving their ideas for SuperBot Entertainment, Sony, and my source for several months. I have periodically been giving those three entities your guys’ updates.

Hey paul if u are still sending our ides to sony & superbot tell them to change the KO system. the whole special move kill thing just wont do it. they should do health bars and definitely ringouts!

Sora.kun May 4, 2012 at 10:19 am

Hello Paul =)

I would suggest something …

Sora.kun May 4, 2012 at 11:29 am

+1 !!!!!! For :
Sora (ingdom hearts)
Cloud Strife
Crash Bandicoot
Sir Dan Fortesque (Medievil)

Sora.kun May 4, 2012 at 11:52 am

Title Fight:

– Ratchet & Clank: Mr. Zurkon – CryoMine Glove
– Jak and Daxter: The Gun with Red mod.

I had a great idea for a level (I think), let me explain:
It would be a level integrating the plane of “Uncharted 3″ and the desert of “Journey”.

* The beginning of this level would rise in the plane of Uncharted 3, the back of the plane opens like this:

* On the plane, the players would be disturbed by high winds and objects would be projected in all directions.
Then the plane that would attack from the monsters of Journey:

And the plane would crash in the desert.

* The airplane and the players will crash on the sand, will suffer (with players) sand storms, and attacks of monsters Journey.

* Monsters of Journey have fields of view that become red when they detect the players and then the monsters will attack:

That thank you for reading ^ ^
What do you think?

Nintandy May 5, 2012 at 4:52 pm

I’ve seen a lot of desert ideas like this online, and I would love for this to be incorporated into the game! There are also possibilities of having the Colossi from the desert appear here, if it’s possible to have more than two franchises mashing together. I’d love to see it battle against the cloth-destroying dragons!

ThermalPisces May 4, 2012 at 12:03 pm

What’s the chance of getting Wander from Shadow of the colossus put into this game?

He would make a great addition to this game with all the items he obtains through the trials and whatnot, not to mention viable super moves such as turning into Dormin like he did towards the end of the game, that would make an amazing level 3 super!

Please reply if you can, it’d make my week.

GlaciusTS May 7, 2012 at 8:07 pm

Hey Paul, there’s been a big leak on IMDb. Any idea if it’s accurate? Do we have no reveals to look forward to now? Cuz it seems to name a lot of characters from the same franchises and leaves out some of the important ones.

Sora.kun May 8, 2012 at 2:06 pm

I have another idea for a level:
A mixture of games “Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat,” “Kingdom Hearts” and “Limbo.”
Let me explain:
* It would be aboard a pirate ship (Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat), see this video from 6 Minutes and 02 seconds:
The boat, Leading by Black kat, ordered to shoot cannonballs over the No-Heart (Darkside) Destiny Island (Kingdom Hearts)
* The atmosphere of the level would take place during the time (in Kingdom Hearts) or Destiny Island falls into darkness, and is attacked by the heartless …
Watch this video from 15 Minutes and 25 seconds:
* Limbo sidestepping those without heart and activate traps to help us …

Sora.kun May 8, 2012 at 2:06 pm

What do you think of that?

Stefan Johnson May 9, 2012 at 6:41 am

Thats pretty awesome. Out of all of the 3rd Party Characters Sora is my number one pick so I hope a stage from there as well.

ackme-b June 5, 2012 at 8:38 am

waooo thats the best idea that i ever heard i love kingdom hearts and i hope that superbot will put sora on this game

No offense meant to superbot, but having supers as the only way to ko is beyond stupid to have in a fighting game, unless it is only for ONE mode, if its that way only stock or not, that’s is a BAD decision. If you are still passing this to superbot, tell them to listen to the fans and not let that happen, it might damage the games likability ( for lack of a better vocabulary)

jdude1996a June 6, 2012 at 4:45 pm

I too was at first unsure of the “only supers KO” idea because i couldn’t see how it wud work and also because it was the ONLY way to kill someone, but then I realised that SSBB ONLY has 1 way to KO someone too, by knocking them off the edge, and also that in this game, there are so many possible situations that can pop up in-game such as one guy using his level 2 super to demolish a person that is using a level 1 super, or dodging all the attempts of a person using his level 3 super only to counter attack with ur level 3 super on them.

Chaos-PSD May 22, 2012 at 7:16 pm

Finally, from me anyway, Bonus/Guest Characters, plus explanations for them:

Scorpion (Mortal Kombat): Figured NetherRealm Studios owe Sony a favor after they borrowed Kratos.

Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII): Since the game was well received by fans, also she’s the only character that doesn’t use weapons, besides her skill in martial arts.

Spider-Man (The Amazing Spider-Man): Movie rights belong to Sony, this could be a good way of merchandising after the film comes out, and show Spidey in a not-so arcade-styled fighting game.

Nina Williams (Death By Degrees/Tekken): I always felt that Namco was more closer to the PlayStation, plus this is the only spin-off game that’s not an arcade fighter.

Ultraman (Ultraman Fighting Evolution): While sold only in Japan, this game series is shown only on PlayStations.

Selene (Underworld): Again, movie rights, also the series has its own PlayStation-exclusive in Europe.

This way the game will have representatives from half the regions: North America, Europe, and Japan.

Now that E3’s here, when will you be answering our questions we had asked you in a post you made on Jan 29th?
