Well it’s now been exactly 4 weeks since Paul Gale Network first teased that a new PlayStation 3 blockbuster game was in development (and then unveiled that game the next day on Halloween) and today I can officially reveal that the developer of Title Fight is indeed SuperBot Entertainment.
I’ll state now that with everything I put up, rest assured it does come from a valid source that has become a friend in the industry and if I’m ever uncertain about something, I will call it a rumor and let you know what about it makes me uncertain. If you ever want a break from gaming news and care to read something a bit different, click on Paul’s Friends which is a little part of my site dedicated to the many awesome people that have helped me out along the way as a creative talent and journalist in this industry. It represents but a small portion of those that I know, but some people are either camera shy and/or prefer their pics and identity/affiliation be kept secret and I have to remain respectful of that.
Back to Title Fight now…I can share the following with you:
Sweet Tooth
Do you remember in my Q/A article why I chose Sweet Tooth to talk about, revealing that he is one of the heavier fighters, etc.? Well it’s because his model was one of the first to be designed and brought up to a working condition for the game. Here he is in his normal, “human”, playable form. And not pictured is his Level 3 Bar Super Move, in which as previously mentioned, involves him becoming his Ice Cream Truck Mech of a self.
Developmental shot
Here is a simple, developmental shot of the game which involves the early polygonal model of a certain character not yet listed on my site. Each character undergoes a similar process, because SuperBot Entertainment is trying to stay faithful to each character’s original design.
SuperBot Entertainment members
Here’s a picture of some of the members of SuperBot Entertainment playing in their offices. And in a previous article when I mentioned that external testing has begun on the game, it was done right here (well, here for me) in the Santa Monica, California office. Oh and do know (in case you didn’t read on my site already) that this game functions just fine with a standard PS3 controller, so don’t be scared of joysticks if you’re not an arcade gamer.
Blurry shot
Aside from the text at the bottom from this debug of Title Fight, the picture you’re seeing does not reveal much. This picture, as well as the other three come from Chris Molina’s Twitter account. Chris is a Senior Level Designer at SuperBot Entertainment and in addition to sharing these pictures, also had the following to say:
1.Our capture station and waiting area – Parappa is a permanent resident http://twitpic.com/6a60jz
2.The character artist sitting a row ahead of mine is modeling polygonal female boobies. Carry on…
3.Our studio fighters getting their brawl on http://twitpic.com/6au76k
4.Racing to finish a level design doc for today’s review – map layout is looking spiffy if I do say so myself.
5.Slam! Second level design pitch approved by our studio leads! Now onto Sony Santa Monica for a final green light.
6.In the middle of a skype video interview with a level design candidate from Osaka, Japan.
7.New Sony Playstation commercial vaguely foreshadowing our soon to be announced title – http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature…&v=HBuK3EcY6vk
8.Checking out the original art assets from a Sony IP title we’re appropriating for my level – very cool seeing this environment in raw form.
I know that you all want the good screenshots of each character doing their Super Move and the awesome gameplay videos from Sandover Village and LittleBigPlanet, but know that they are coming. With several articles that I’ve written on Title Fight over the last four weeks, hopefully it has whet your appetite and satisfied you enough for now. All you have to do is click on one of the stories below to read again or for the first time, a bunch of info like gameplay details, your most popular questions being answered, and more.
James Bond by Paul Gale
No, I’m not in the game (well at least not yet!), but this James Bond picture was one of my first clues about the game and the reason for it was that some involved with Title Fight were considering him as a playable character. And as I previously hinted at in a former article, the reason why is 1) Sony’s involvement in the new Bond film and the fact that it’d almost coincide with this game’s release (and quite possibly God of War 4 as well) and 2) James Bond is cool and it’d be a neat and unexpected playable character that they could do a lot with IF he makes the cut.
Thank you once again for your patience, understanding and support. There’s more to come, everyone…and you’re going to love it.
