Nintendo reported today that on Black Friday alone, 500,000 Wii consoles were sold (the system’s best BF day ever) and that 3DS had a 325% improvement over its previous week (with a lifetime US total now of 1.65 million). Reggie also said that from its launch and into last weekend, 535,000 copies of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword were sold, making it Nintendo’s fastest selling Zelda game of all time. Super Mario 3D Land also enjoyed a healthy weekend, now bringing its total sales for US up to 500,000. And in a similar boat as Zelda, 3D Land is the fastest selling portable Mario game, ever.

“What this has been able to do is drive our Nintendo 3DS business in only eight months to surpass the full first year volume of the original DS and we still have the bulk of the holiday to go…and we still have the launch of Mario Kart 7 (out Dec. 4) to continue driving our full-year sales on Nintendo 3DS.” – Reggie Fils-Aime in an interview that you can read fully at USAToday.com.

Good job, Nintendo. Here’s to a great remainder of the holiday season.
