Kyle Higgins (Nightwing and Deathstroke) on Paul Gale Network
Kyle Higgins and Paul Gale

If you just read my article on meeting Eric Wallace, then this is a good follow-up, because I simultaneously had the honor of getting to meet Mr. Kyle Higgins. Already being a fan of what he’s done in the past, him being chosen to take on Nightwing was excellent news for me. And to also being in charge of Deathstroke…well that’s just icing on the cake!

Similar to how Eric really enjoyed writing for Mister Terrific, Kyle expressed a great love for the character that is Dick Grayson and specifically his role as NightWing over the years. Hearing that kind of care for a comic book hero that so many people are fond of, makes me that much happier to read the book. And he said that with Deathstroke, it’s just a different type of joy he gets.

A thanks indeed goes out to Kyle for signing my comics and taking a picture with me as well. I also got a neat story from him. Higgins said that Nightwing has always been his favorite superhero and just loved collecting all sorts of figures, posters, and more…constantly looking through eBay for cool stuff. He then found his favorite poster and sent it, along with a letter to the writer and artist behind that particular series that the poster was based off of, and told them that he’s in charge of the new DC relaunch. They autographed it and simultaneously gave him an idea for what to write for when he signs copies of Nightwing for people, “Welcome to Gotham!” Why is this cool? Because I was the first person that he signed a book with that saying and decided that it’ll be his from here on out.

Thank you Kyle for coming by Winnetka, CA’s Collector’s Paradise comic book store. It was cool meeting you and I’m glad that you too saw the humor in Superman #1’s PGN (Planet Global Network) being similar to my own Paul Gale Network…right down to the color blue used for the logo. Well, best of luck in both series and I’m really looking forward to what’s next for Nightwing and Deathstroke. I’m definitely recommending superhero fans check out both. Keep up the awesome work, Mr. Higgins.
