For four years, IDW Publishing has been printing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics, bringing back to its original form, one of my all time favorite franchises. I was Turtles Kid during the 80’s (having been born in 1983) and have thoroughly enjoyed each iteration of these green shelled heroes. It’s just one of those properties that have truly withstood the test of time. Be it the original comics, the 1987 cartoon run, the 2003 series, the current animated take that started in 2012, or any of the games/movies…Turtle Power has been alive and well for over 30 years and I love everything about it.

This brings me back to my first topic and that’s the current comic book series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by IDW Publishing. This is a series reboot that’s brilliantly drawn, wonderfully written, pays great homage to the series’ history, and does a remarkable job at keeping you on the edge of your seat, because it has enough fresh content going on it it…that most of the time, you really don’t know what to expect yet.

Being 31 years old and enjoying all over again, one of my childhood passions, is one thing…but being able to do this by reading these issues with my son Bryson, just takes my joy to a whole other level. Bryson Paul Gale was born on November 20th, 2014 and from the time he was about one month old till now (5 months and 9 days), we’ve blasted through all of these comics by IDW, as well as their excellent side solo stories and side mini series.

Without giving away any spoilers, Issue #44 was a shocker and today we just finished #45…and yup, awesome yet again. If you’re looking for a good comic book to read or are interested in a graphic novel that packs a bunch of issues together, then check this series out at IDWPublishing.com.
