Nintendo’s President, Mr. Satoru Iwata revealed to Asahi.com today a few 3DS details. The first up was regarding the amount of users that Nintendo would like to see the new portable reach…ideally surpassing the 300 million that DS accomplished (of which over 140 million are owners). Next up was a little piece about how Big N is experimenting with Mario on the system, by having him running towards the screen, breaking boxes floating above him that are popping out towards us. Regarding Sony’s NGP (that’s Next Gen Portable…not Paul Gale Network), Iwata thinks that 3G monthly usage fees will limit the system from reaching its potential install base. Finally, it looks like Apple’s products including the iPod, iPhone, and iPad are indeed causing Nintendo to progress forward and up their game; something Nintendo will have to do time and time again if they wish to remain #1.

All of this competition only means good things for gamers. Here’s to the 3DS in less that four weeks.
