Here is the best selling software and hardware in Japan, for the week of May 15th – May 21st, 2023 courtesy Famitsu.

Software:

1) The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (NS) – 247,689
2) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (NS) – 8,264
3) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (NS) – 7,520
4) Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet (NS) – 5,573
5) Minecraft (NS) – 5,507
6) Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe (NS) – 5,360
7) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (NS) – 4,706
8) Splatoon 3 (NS) – 4,658
9) Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection (NS) – 4,515
10) Nintendo Switch Sports (NS) – 3,422

Hardware:

1) Nintendo Switch – 86,645
2) PlayStation 5 – 37,155
3) PlayStation 4 – 880
4) Xbox Series – 262
5) Nintendo 3DS – 25

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom remained the best selling game of the week, and its predecessor also received a boost, selling more than in did in the previous seven day frame. TotK is positioned well to reach 15 million world wide by the end of this weekend.

In hardware, Nintendo Switch was number one, more than doubling PlayStation 5 and as for their showdown for the year to date, NS is at 1,475,682 and PS5 is at 1,172,181. That 300,000 lead will likely only get bigger in the coming weeks, but PS5 does have Final Fantasy XVI and Street Fighter 6 launching on it, in June, so expect that month to be solid for Sony. Back to playing Zelda. See you next week!
