Here is the best selling software and hardware in Japan, for the week of March 20th – March 26th, 2023 courtesy Famitsu.

Software:

1) Resident Evil 4 (PS5) – 89,662
2) Resident Evil 4 (PS4) – 85,371
3) Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key (NS) – 31,140
4) Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe (NS) – 27,198
5) Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key (PS4) – 17,240
6) Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet (NS) – 15,044
7) Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key (PS5) – 14,787
8) Splatoon 3 (NS) – 12,146
9) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (NS) – 10,781
10) Minecraft (NS) – 8,317

Hardware:

1) Nintendo Switch – 54,653
2) PlayStation 5 – 38,964
3) PlayStation 4 – 1,531
4) Xbox Series – 583
5) Nintendo 3DS – 84

Half of this week’s software was made up of a new entries, with Resident Evil 4 leading the way, followed by Atelier Ryza 3 having the second most total copies sold. Hopefully given the high quality that the RE4 Remake has behind it, the drop next week will be relatively soft.

In hardware, Nintendo Switch bested PlayStation 5 again, this time by nearly 16,000 units and is now close to 56k ahead for the year. I suspect that due to the well received 10 minute presentation on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, both Nintendo Switch hardware and copies of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild should be solid over the next several weeks. That opening May 12th weekend is going to be something else. See you next week!
