Here is the best selling software and hardware in Japan, for the week of March 13th – March 19th, 2023 courtesy Famitsu.

Software:

1) Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe (NS) – 25,201
2) Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet (NS) – 15,306
3) Splatoon 3 (NS) – 12,100
4) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (NS) – 9,245
5) Minecraft (NS) – 6,672
6) Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon (NS) – 6,474
7) Hogwarts Legacy (PS5) – 5,622
8) Nintendo Switch Sports (NS) – 5,507
9) Octopath Traveler II (NS) – 4,707
10) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (NS) – 4,289

Hardware:

1) Nintendo Switch – 49,585
2) PlayStation 5 – 40,411
3) PlayStation 4 – 1,115
4) Xbox Series – 555
5) Nintendo 3DS – 138

The software charts were on the quiet side this week, with the split being 9:1, favoring Nintendo Switch over PlayStation 5, and one new title in Bayonetta Origins. Cereza’s prequel didn’t shake the charts, but breaking into the Top 10 at least once is still a success.

On the hardware side of things, PlayStation 5’s recent run has come to an end, being outsold by Nintendo Switch and some 9,000 units. For those keeping track, year to date, NS is at 825,155 and PS5 is at 785,003. The race to 1 million is live, but if I had to make a bet, my money would be on Nintendo Switch to get there first. See you next week!
