Here is the best selling software and hardware in Japan, for the week of February 27th – March 5th, 2023 courtesy Famitsu.
Software:
1) Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe (NS) – 69,581
2) Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty (PS5) – 30,132
3) Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet (NS) – 24,592
4) Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty (PS4) – 17,699
5) Rune Factory 3 Special (NS) – 16,627
6) Splatoon 3 (NS) – 14,766
7) Octopath Traveler II (NS) – 14,085
8) Hogwarts Legacy (PS5) – 13,449
9) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (NS) – 10,295
10) Metroid Prime Remastered (NS) – 7,960
Hardware:
1) PlayStation 5 – 78,412
2) Nintendo Switch – 66,525
3) PlayStation 4 – 1,655
4) Xbox Series – 848
5) Nintendo 3DS – 66
This week in software saw Wo Long make it its debut with less than 48,000 total physical copies sold between both versions, but with digital, hopefully the total is closer to 100k. Rune Factory 3 came out on Nintendo Switch with 16,000 copies sold and Metroid Prime Remastered made its cartridge debut in Japan, moving just under 8,000 in sales. Considering, the country had MPR for nearly 3.5 weeks on eShop, and it still managed to move this many copies in three days is notable.
In hardware, PS5 sold a little shy of 12,000 units more than Nintendo Switch, also claiming the month of February, but year to date, the latter is still ahead by over 35k. Things are heating up despite it being winter! See you next week!
