Here is the best selling software and hardware in Japan, for the week of February 13th – February 19th, 2023 courtesy Famitsu.

Software:

1) Hogwarts Legacy (PS5) – 36,958
2) Wild Hearts (PS5) – 26,905
3) Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet (NS) – 23,593
4) Tales of Symphonia Remastered (NS) – 21,860
5) Splatoon 3 (NS) – 12,958
6) Theatrhythm Final Bar Line (NS) – 11,565
7) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (NS) – 9,227
8) Tales of Symphonia Remastered (PS4) – 7,503
9) Minecraft (NS) – 6,573
10) Nintendo Switch Sports (NS) – 5,773

Hardware:

1) PlayStation 5 – 88,653
2) Nintendo Switch – 48,896
3) Xbox Series – 6,600
4) PlayStation 4 – 1,581
5) Nintendo 3DS – 79

Hogwarts Legacy was the best selling software in Japan, for the second week in a row, and also with a pretty soft drop of only 45%. A few new titles debuted, including Wild Hearts, Tales of Symphonia, and Theatrhythm. The over all split was 7 Nintendo Switch titles, 2 for PS5, and 1 PS4 game.

In terms of hardware, PS5 was the best selling platform, for now 4 weeks in a row. The console is at Year to Date, 509,582 and Nintendo Switch YTD is 587,760. If this high stock/sell through of PlayStation 5 continues, along with sub 50k Nintendo Switch numbers, then it’s possible that in two more weeks, Sony’s console will have outsold Nintendo’s, up to this point in 2023.

There are some heavy hitters coming to both systems though, so I expect a heated battle. See you next week!
