Here is the best selling software and hardware in Japan, for the week of February 6th – February 12th, 2023 courtesy Famitsu.

Software:

1) Hogwarts Legacy (PS5) – 67,196
2) Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet (NS) – 29,019
3) Splatoon 3 (NS) – 13,343
4) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (NS) – 11,807
5) Minecraft (NS) – 7,566
6) Fire Emblem Engage (NS) – 7,267
7) Nintendo Switch Sports (NS) – 7,127
8) Mario Party Superstars (NS) – 5,155
9) Gran Turismo 7 (NS) – 5,065
10) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (NS) – 5,025

Hardware:

1) PlayStation 5 – 93,574
2) Nintendo Switch – 55,025
3) Xbox Series – 3,935
4) PlayStation 4 – 1,115
5) Nintendo 3DS – 91

There wasn’t too much of a shakeup on the software side of things, except for Hogwarts Legacy having quite a strong first place debut. With digital units, a 100,000 first weekend sell-through in Japan has to be considered a success for Warner Entertainment.

Hardware saw the same order, but with Xbox Series dropping quite the amount from its previous week total of nearly 15,000. Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 showed up with another strong, nearly 100k week. Year-to-date, Nintendo Switch is at 538,864 and PS5 is at 420,929. Let’s see how these two continue to face off against one another in the coming weeks, as this is the closest they’ve been YTD, this gen. See you next week!
