Here is the best selling software and hardware in Japan, for the week of January 30th – February 5th, 2023 courtesy Famitsu.

Software:

1) Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet (NS) – 31,191
2) Splatoon 3 (NS) – 14,298
3) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (NS) – 13,858
4) Fire Emblem Engage (NS) – 12,920
5) Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (NS) – 9,522
6) Minecraft (NS) – 7,723
7) Nintendo Switch Sports (NS) – 7,461
8) Mario Party Superstars (NS) – 6,346
9) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (NS) – 6,128
10) Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban! (NS) – 4,480

Hardware:

1) PlayStation 5 – 93,026
2) Nintendo Switch – 55,736
3) Xbox Series – 14,644
4) PlayStation 4 – 953
5) Nintendo 3DS – 70

On the software charts for this week, no new releases cracked the Top 10 and we saw the duo of Pokémon titles reclaim the #1 spot. In hardware, for this first time since PlayStation 5 launched, it has now outsold Nintendo Switch for two consecutive weeks in Japan. Will PS5 be on top again next week or due to a strong Nintendo Direct yesterday, will Nintendo Switch be more in demand and be #1?

Also worth mentioning is the big jump that Xbox Series received, going from 1,000 to 14,000. See you next week!
