Wii U reUmagined logo exclusive on Paul Gale Network

Members of the press recently had the opportunity to be a part of a one hour video Q/A segment with Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto, with each media outlet being limited to a single question for the legendary game designer, along with Super Mario 3D World producer Yoshiaki Koizumi and director Kenta Motokura.

When one outlet asked regarding remaking previous games in HD, Shigeru Miyamoto had the following to say,

“As for remaking previous games in HD, that’s certainly possible, but currently, most of our devs are working on making new stuff. And we certainly like to have people working on new stuff like that. HD remakes might, however, be a good project for a development partner of ours. So that’s something I hope we have the opportunity to introduce in the future. But the main thing that’s always going to be on our minds is: ‘What new elements of gameplay can we use with the GamePad, as applied to some of these older games?’ We want to find some way to bring a fresh new experience to this, rather than simply update the visuals and leave it at that.”

Shigeru Miyamoto on the idea of improved remakes for Wii U by the likes of Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy could bode well for the reUmagined rumor.

As Paul Gale Network reported yesterday in this reUmagined article, this concept is simply a rumor for the time being…but hearing Miyamoto talk “remakes” is definitely welcoming. More as it develops.
