So far in 2012 I’ve been to the beach a few times, but today was the first of the year for swimming and bogey boarding. Sometimes I’ll go to Venice to work out, Malibu to rock climb, Zuma to run, or Santa Monica for a meeting/lunch, but for the pure sake of “fun”, boogey boarding at any of these and other beaches makes for the best “me time”.

Hurley Board Shorts at Santa Monica Beach on Paul Gale Network
Old Hurley board shorts = still cool in 2012!

It’s a sport that I’ve been enjoying since I was a little kid and don’t think I’ll ever stop. That’s where this story was going to end…just with a little reflection of having a fun day at the beach, but something unexpected happened and that was the attention that my board shorts from a few years ago brought me and my old school Surf Slayer Morey boogey board that I’ve had for over half my life!

I guess my board in particular is older than many of the kids playing on the beach, which is why it gets its attention, but for people to comment on my shorts when typically “newer is better”, it makes me glad to have ’em. I checked out Hurley.com to see if my pair is still around and of course they’re not, but the new stuff still looks great in my opinion.

Anyways, it’s been a while since I wrote an actual article that didn’t have to do with video game news (I’m talking about you, Star Fox – Metroid: Fusion Saga), martial arts tutorial, or something of Paul Gale Network’s usual nature, so I thought I’d share this little experience. It’s been a great week and weekend, which included going to the Oak Tree Gun Club to shoot my gun on Saturday. Now I’m totally refreshed and pumped up for the week ahead. Plus… there’s only 15 days left till E3!
