Here is the best selling software and hardware in Japan, for the week of October 3rd – October 9th, courtesy Famitsu.

Software:

1) Splatoon 3 (NS) – 120,564
2) NieR: Automata – The End of YoRHA Edition (NS) –  30,218
3) Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Offline (NS) – 21,908
4) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (NS) – 10,522
5) Minecraft (NS) – 6,857
6) Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival (NS) – 6,677
7) Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Offline (PS4) – 5,483
8) FIFA 23 (PS4) – 5,364
9) Hakuoki: Shinkai – Ten’un no Shou (NS) – 5,101
10) FIFA 23: Legacy Edition (NS) – 4,788

Hardware:

1) Nintendo Switch – 62,100
2) PlayStation 5 – 5,546
3) Xbox Series – 797
4) Nintendo 3DS – 85
5) PlayStation 4 – 12

A couple of new games debuted this week, including Hakuoki and NieR. The latter had a respectable second place position on the chart and selling above 30,000 physical alone, for a port of a several year old game, is within Square-Enix’s expectations. On the hardware side, everything was down except for the Nintendo 3DS. Late October and early November will be interesting as both Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and Bayonetta 3 are big releases.

See you next week!
