Today’s Nintendo Direct brings with it a half hour of pure fun.

What did you think of the new trailer for Super Mario 3D World? The game was already fun to play at E3 this past June, but after seeing the latest video footage, the excitement level at PGN has gone up significantly! The new Mario and Luigi Wii Remote Plus units that are hitting retail this November 1st look really cool as well as the Light Blue Wii Remote Plus that comes bundled in with Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games (and already solid title to begin with). Add to this fun, we see Kirby in an all new game for 3DS coming out in 2014 and have confirmation that Sonic will indeed be making a return as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.

If there was any piece of news that wasn’t necessarily “great”, it was that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is getting pushed back by two months, to February, 2014. Long term it’s for the best, I believe, as it will help allow the existing games coming out this Fall to each sell better on Wii U (having too many options at once means that the titles will compete with themselves), let DK get even more polished, and prevent any “drought-like feeling” in Q1 of next year for Nintendo gamers. What did you all think of today’s Nintendo Direct?
