According to Nintendo, the 3DS sold approximately 72,000 units during July…however for the month of August, the system spiked up to 185,000 units sold. Keep in mind that the price cut took effect on the 12th, so expect September’s sales to easily be over 200,000, as it will be the first month where the 3DS will enjoy a full 30 days of being available for $80 less. Then, as we head into the holidays, 3DS will probably make up for a lackluster sales performance in its first few months, thanks to 1) Nintendo always doing exceptionally well during Q4, 2) that price drop is going to look great for holiday puchasing, and 3) the duo of Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 coming out.
