Wii U: U-remote, U-tab, U-tensil, U-control on Paul Gale Network
U-control?

I’ve read many different terms online for Wii U’s controller and since Nintendo has not given the peripheral an official name yet, I’ve come up with four of my own to add to the mix.

U-remote or Umote: A simple yet effective name that plays on “Wii Remote/Wiimote” from the current generation. The downside to the name is that unlike the Wii Remote, the Wii U controller isn’t a remote, so perhaps this name isn’t the best…

U-tab: Most people see the Wii U controller as a tablet-like device and thus many probably would find it quick and easy to say U-tab. However, for Nintendo internally, they probably wouldn’t want for their controller to be misinterpreted as being just a tablet…so yet again, maybe this isn’t the most ideal name either.

U-tensil: Basic and self explanatory. It’s not the most clever, but straight to the point and kind of fun at the same time.

U-control: My personal favorite of the three names I came up with. The name is clever in my opinion, because the Wii U controller does just that, it puts you in control over the whole game. Use it to control what’s on screen, use it as an extension to the imagery on TV, take out a stylus and have that type of experience, take advantage of its microphone, camera, and even use motion controls. The thing really puts “U” in full control. And not only that, but the word control makes up the word controller, so in those regards, it’s also pretty fitting.

What do you think of U-control? Would that be an appropriate name in your opinion for Nintendo to officially use for the controller? Feel free to share your thoughts on it and for that matter, what you’ve been calling it. Thanks for your thoughts. I will be sharing your feedback with NOA.
