Tekken X Street Fighter to feature realistic looking characters.

Capcom went a long time before updating the Street Fighter series and with SF4 came a brand new look. Gone were hand drawn animation and sprites and in were 3D polygons and advanced camera angles that made the game look modern while keeping the gameplay old school.

The question for Capcom now is, what’s next? We know that Street Fighter X Tekken uses a similar graphics scheme as Super Street Fighter IV and according to Namco (in an update right here), Tekken X Street Fighter will show the Street Fighter characters drawn more realistically than ever before.

Namco is going realistic…will Capcom take a similar route with Street Fighter V?

Here’s a look at Samuel Cazetta’s artwork that ueses the models from SSF4 and adds a little realism to them. To see more of Samuel’s work, please visit his page at Cazetta.DeviantArt.com.

As you can see in those images, the SF crew looks very faithful to their in-game counterparts in SSF4, but with a bit more realism. This type of artstyle would probably make a lot of fans happy, as the visuals would not quite be “hyper-realistic” and thus possibly risk changing the look of the fighters too much, but still give everyone a noticeable makover.

Fans of the series, what I want to know from you is how do you want Capcom to present Street Fighter 5? Would you like a similar graphics engine as SF4, have the game be slightly more realistic, hyper realistic, or be drawn in jaw droppingly good sprite animation? Oh and I might as well pose the question while we’re on the subject…2D gameplay or 3D gameplay (I think I know the answer that most will give, but still, I have to ask). All of this talk has me hopeful for Steet Fighter 5…not if, but WHEN it happens.

Hopefully Capcom will have another “be a character contest” in Street Fighter 5! (That’s me on the right in the European Cruise Ship Stage in Street Fighter IV).

One thought on “Street Fighter characters drawn realistic. The path to take for Street Fighter 5?”
  1. One thing sure is we won t see SFV any time soon, they will throw first others SFIV iterations with suffixes like “HYPER”, “TURBO” or “CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION” each featuring smalls gameplay and characters changes. Also probably an SF Alpha franchise reboot as well and Marvel vs Capocom 3 is already on its way. So i don t think Capcom will need to figure what to do next with SFV for quite some time.
