Paul Gale Network share's photo of a rainbow appearing over Nintendo's Kyoto headquarters, after Satoru Iwata passes away.

As shocking and sad as it is to lose a good friend, great human being, and an amazing pioneer in Satoru Iwata, this photo at the very least, shines some literal light on Nintendo’s Kyoto headquarters. You can interpret the image however you want, but Paul Gale Network is going to say that it’s Mr. Iwata entering Heaven and paying homage to what Nintendo literally stands for: “Leave Luck to Heaven”. Thank you to kaorin1211’s husband on Twitter, for taking the photo.

Nintendo is staying social-media silent today out of respect to Mr. Iwata, but we do have a couple of quotes from both Shigeru Miyamoto and Reggie Fils-Aime, as well as images of both Nintendo of Japan and Nintendo of America, lowering their flags to half staff. Shigeru Miyamoto told the Wall Street Journal, “I am surprised at this sudden news and overcome with sadness.” He also said that he would maintain the game development stance that he and Mr. Iwata established and will continue to work with developers to create the kind of future successes that Iwata-san would have wanted.

Reggie Fils-Aime had to following to say, to Benzinga.com, “Mr. Iwata is gone, but it will be years before his impact on both Nintendo and the full video game industry will be fully appreciated. He was a strong leader for our company, and his attributes were clear to most everyone: Intelligence, creativity, curiosity and sense of humor. But for those of us fortunate enough to work closely with him, what will be remembered most were his mentorship and, especially, his friendship. He was a wonderful man. He always challenged us to push forward…to try the new…to upset paradigms—and most of all, to engage, excite and endear our fans. That work will CONTINUE uninterrupted.”
