In an interview with PlayFront.de, the Sony PlayStation German boss, Mr. Uwe Bassendowski, said that Sony has sold 2.2 million PS Vita units world wide as of June 30th. This means that the handheld has been selling about 250,000 units a month since its last check-in, which was in February when it passed the 1.2 million mark.

As for where the 3DS was at in this point in its life: Over 3 million. We know that PS Vita won’t get a price drop this year (unless Sony changes its mind), but it’ll be interesting to see when it eventually does, how much of an impact that’ll have on its sales.
