The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Best Wii Game of E3 2011 on Paul Gale Network
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Best Wii Game of E3 2011)

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was for the second year in a row, my favorite Wii game of E3. What made it win this time around is really the improvements that have gone into the motion controls. This is the Zelda game that gamers have been waiting to experience from a control point of view, as well as being the next BIG entry in the series. By the time it comes out, there’ll have been a 5 year gap between Twilight Princess and it, making this release all the more important. Fortunately, after playing Skyward Sword’s demo in full, I can say that it’s certainly headed down a promising path. Visuals that blend Wind Waker with Twilight Princess, fresh new gameplay, and a story that pre-dates all Zelda games…yes, I’m excited for this one to come out later this year. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (Best PlayStation 3 Game of E3 2011)

This November 1st, a serious contender for many gamers’ most anticipated game of 2011 is coming out, but for now, Uncharted 3 earned my award for Best PlayStation 3 Game of E3. You want a title that delivers in its story, voice acting, graphics, fun factor, and overall impressive polish? Then Drake’s Deception is right for you. I can really pick out the good ones after just a few minutes of playtime, and quickly I saw the amount of hard work that went and is going into this title from Naughty Dog. The E3 demo was very impressive to say the least and if you’d like to see more of the game for yourself, visit UnchartedTheGame.com.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Best PS Vita Game of E3 2011)

E3 2011 marked the first time I got to play with the PS Vita and so I was sure to try out everything, in order to get as solid of a feel as possible for the system and what it can do. Amongst all of the games I tried, it really was Uncharted: Golden Abyss that I felt was most deserving of Best PS Vita Game of E3 2011. I was very impressed with how good the game looked compared to its PS3 brother and felt that it was moving pretty well overall, for a game at this stage in development. We’ll see if it delivers as highly as hoped, but things certainly do look good from my early impressions. Check out more on it at UnchartedTheGame.com.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Best PC Game of E3 2011, Best RPG of E3 2011)

Bethesda Game Studios sure has done it this time. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was my pick for Best RPG of E3 2011 thanks to all of what the game offers. I saw but a small glimpse of a truly massive world, one that’s very detailed in its variety of environments, weather effects, enemies, magic, and so much more. When talking with the developers about how you’ll progress throughout the quest, I could really tell that this would be one RPG that I could definitely see myself locking the doors and just investing as many hours as necessary until I get to the end. I liked it enough in fact, that it also won my award for Best PC Game of E3 2011. If you’re looking for a nice, big RPG to sink your teeth into, then regardless of the HD capable platform you own, do yourself a favor and keep an eye on Skyrim (plus it comes out on a very memorable date in 11-11-11 so it’s easy to remember). Forza Motorsport 4 (Best Racing Game of E3 2011)

If you’re not a multi-millionaire, then I have a game for you, Forza Motorsport 4. Heck, even if you are wealthy enough to afford some of the beautiful cars that this game so realistically portrays, you’re probably going to want this game anyways. I was extremely impressed when I played this baby and that’s why it got my award for Best Racing Game of E3 2011. Quite simply put, Forza Motorsport 4 has absolutely stunning visuals and physics that when turned on hard, feel as realistic as any racing title I’ve ever played. The music in the E3 demo was solid, the controls were tight, and the realism was definitely there. Gearheads get ready for October 11th, but for now enjoy what Turn Ten Studios and Microsoft Game Studios is doing at ForzaMotorsport.net.

Crimson Alliance Best Downloadable Console Game of E3 2011 on Paul Gale Network
Crimson Alliance (Best Downloadable Console Game of E3 2011)

I didn’t go into E3 thinking that I’d find a downloadable console game as good as Crimson Alliance, so let me tell you how happy I was when I finished playing this little gem. I had so much with Certain Affinity’s game for Xbox Live Arcade that I genuinely feel confident about backing it up before its release, and furthermore, why it deserved my awarad for Best Downloadable Console Game of E3 2011. For a game of its kind (being downloadable and all), I was very pleased with the quality of visuals this game had, the amount of characters on screen, including their different animations, and variety of classes. I played as two different characters for about 15 minutes each and now I’m eager to download the game for myself and experience the real thing. Power to the smaller games for still delivering big on fun. Visit CrimsonAlliance.com for more news on the title.
