Phantasy Star Online: Episode I&II

Yesterday it was Nintendo’s turn in the “patent” department to have something found that’s pretty interesting and today it’s Sega’s. Their popular and long running Phantasy Star series has two new titles in development: Phantasy Star: Eternal Planets and Phantasy Star: Eternal Hunters. This is all that’s known so far, but since both are similarly named, I personally want to go with DS or 3DS as the platform(s) for which they’ll be on.

If Sega releases them both for the DS, they’re at least guaranteed a large install base. If they go the 3DS route, they can take advantage of the system’s power and be one of the early developers to shine brightly on it…not to mention have a more sophisticated online network to play with. Finally, Sega could even put one game on the DS and the other on the 3DS and have some interactivity between them both. We’ll see. Then again, my assumptions could be way off and they’re for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Hopefully we’ll learn more soon.
