Mega Man Universe Teaser Trailer!

Here’s the official e-mail:

Hello there!

For the last four months, we’ve been secretly toiling away in our super secret ‘Secret Workshop’ working on an incredibly secret project.

Point is, it’s been rather secret… until now.

Today, GameSpot made the announcement for Capcom’s Mega Man Universe, a brand spankin’ new franchise in the brand’s lore, featuring an interview with the Blue Bomber’s creator, the legendary Keiji Inafune.

We had the privelage and honor of concepting, producing, and obsessing over every detail of the game’s teaser trailer, which you can check out by clicking here.

Seriously, there are A LOT of hidden fanboy odes to be found EVERYWHERE in this spot. Some you can see, some you can hear… but that’s all I’m gonna say.

It took a little over four months from start to finish to complete, with 50+ crew members working some rather sleepless nights.

Of special note was our awesome creative relationship with Buddy System Studios, who brought all the wonderful stop-motion characters in the trailer to life.

Yes, those are fully sculpted, maticulously detailed physical beings animating on screen. It’s a method rarely employed these days, with CG having a strangehold on the industry.

But we felt their was no other way to go but with the most tangible thing possible, and Buddy System did it up proper. They are radical!

For me personally, this was a childhood fantasy wholly, truly, and pretty magically realized.

Mega Man has always been amongst the all-time top characters on my running list of “Awesome Fictional Characters to Invite to a House Party and/or Hang Out With on the Weekend!”

(Yet, to this day, I still can’t beat Mega Man 9.)

Hope ya’ll enjoy it!

Peace!

Mega Man games are beloved by fans all over the world. Since their debut in 1987, Mega Man has remained a videogame icon, having starred in more than 140 titles over the last 22 years. The connection he’s made with pop culture at large has extended beyond games and into cartoons, toys, clothing, comics, kid’s meals, and more. Part of that popularity is driven by the series’ ability to evolve over time yet consistently retain the addictive gameplay experience that sets Mega Man games apart.

For the next chapter in this legacy of excellence, Capcom aims to deliver the most creative Mega Man experience yet. In Mega Man Universe, imagination is the star of the game.

“We are thrilled to finally be able to announce Mega Man Universe,” said Kenji Inafune, Head of Research and Development Management for Capcom Entertainment. “This game will break the mold and challenge the conventional wisdom of what a Mega Man game can be. When fans finally get to see it, I believe they’ll envision their most far-out Mega Man dreams coming true.”

Inafune is committed to helping craft a Mega Man experience that meets the highest expectations of Capcom fans. Most recently Mega Man® 10 echoed this fact when its classic design and compelling gameplay made it one of the most sought after digital downloads of the year. 1. This looks awesome, its not just Mega Man but also other characters from Capcoms series. Can’t wait to hear more news about this and for its release date.

    1. Oh I know! I wonder if it’s going to be a big, old schoo 2D action game with all of the bells and whistles of modern technology, an action adventure type title, or something like Capcom’s version of Kingdom Hearts. Well, it is going to be a downloadable title, so there are certain limitations with space and whatnot. I’m excited though!

  2. That’s cool and every thing but i must say the trailer was out one day ago in like every Capcom fan site and even fighting games fan sites!

    1. Thank you for the positive comment and yeah, you could quote my article on your blog. As long as you link to this original page and give proper credit, I don’t mind. And yes, I’m on Twitter, which you can follow at the top of this page.
