It speeds up things and offers more overall polish."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first of two known major updates for Wii U has come this evening and upon the initial tests that Paul Gale Network has done, the console moves around menus roughly 50% faster (with some instances being as high as 3x the normal speed).  Our next big update should happen sometime this summer.  What all of this is doing is further ensuring that Wii U will be as ready and capable of a console with quality structure, to take on both its own big Fall releases and of course, its upcoming competition with PlayStation 4 and Xbox Infinite (or whatever the Xbox 360&#8217;s successor ends up being called).  Read below for the full details on today&#8217;s update.<\/p>\n<p>Press release:<\/p>\n<p>Version 3.0.0 U available via wireless Internet connection includes the following improvements:<br \/>\nNew Features:<br \/>\nA standby function to download and install software while the system is powered off<br \/>\nSoftware purchased from the Nintendo eShop will automatically install in the background once the download is complete<br \/>\nHolding down the B Button while the Wii U logo is displayed during startup will load the Wii Menu *\u00b9<\/p>\n<p>Changes to System Settings:<br \/>\nAn option to transfer and\/or copy between two USB storage devices in &#8220;Data Management&#8221;<br \/>\nTo facilitate this feature, you will now be able to connect two USB storage devices to a single Wii U console*\u00b2<br \/>\nThe ability to select multiple software titles when transferring, copying, or deleting data in &#8220;Data Management&#8221;<br \/>\nThe option to adjust screen size is now available under &#8220;TV&#8221; *\u00b3<br \/>\n&#8220;Auto Power-Down&#8221; has been renamed &#8220;Power Settings&#8221;<br \/>\nOptions for the standby function are located within this menu<\/p>\n<p>Changes to Miiverse:<br \/>\nAdded support for the Wii Remote, Wii U Pro Controller, and Classic Controller<br \/>\nHandwritten posts will now also display on the TV screen during creation<br \/>\n&#8220;Undo&#8221; and &#8220;Redo&#8221; buttons are now available when creating a handwritten post<br \/>\nRemoved screen size setting. This option can now be adjusted from System Settings<br \/>\nChanges to Nintendo eShop:<br \/>\nSoftware downloaded from the Nintendo eShop will include released updates and will no longer need to be updated after installation<br \/>\nRemoved screen size setting. This option can now be adjusted from System Settings<\/p>\n<p>Changes to the Internet Browser:<br \/>\nAdded support for the Wii Remote and Wii U Pro Controller<br \/>\nAdded the option to change search engines when performing a keyword search<br \/>\nAdded the option to return to the start page from the bookmark menu<br \/>\nRemoved screen size setting.
