I don’t exacty know who began the phrase of, “It’s on like Donkey Kong”, but I’ve heard it used many times over the years. Some places include a scene in American Pie 3 where Steve Stifler talks to Paul Finch, a part in Ice Cube’s 1992 song, “Now I gotta Wet’cha”, and John Bradshaw Layfied (JBL) using it to call the action on WWE SmackDown!<\/p>\n

I’ve comedically used it as well during my light sparring practices with opponents over the years (but never during a professional fight, because it’s too funny of a phrase) and like it.<\/p>\n

The reason why I bring this topic up today is because Nintendo of America is looking to secure a trademark application for, “It’s on like Donkey Kong” so they can use it to promote Donkey Kong Country Returns like so: “On Nov. 21, It’s on like Donkey Kong\u2122!” Good luck Nintendo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
